Mackintosh began work on the Queen's Church about 1896,
and it took a further two years before the foundation stone was laid.
Mackintosh's skills as an architect are well illustrated
by a study of this building, with plenty of exposure of structural elements
and a lovely lofty arched timber ceiling.
There is also much inventiveness in the detail that I found
fascinating. The carving on the pulpit and chancel are very Art Nouveau,
but others are more abstract.
The Church is the home of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society who owns it.
The CRM Society was established in 1973 to foster interest in Mackintosh's work.
